Rehab and Addiction Treatment Programs at Denver Recovery Center

Rehab facilities in Denver

Is habitual drug or alcohol use starting to take a serious toll in your life? Are you worried about a loved one who is battling addiction?

You are not alone. Each day, millions of people struggle with some form of addiction. Unfortunately, not enough people are receiving proper treatment. The reasons to explain this lack of help are numerous: lack of support from friends and family, lack of access to proper resources, fear of being judged, belief that nothing can ever change for the better, feeling as though they don’t deserve help, and so many more complex reasons.

Although taking that first step towards professional addiction treatment can be nerve-wracking, it is truly a step that can help you or your loved one find a new beginning. Continuing to put off addiction treatment can only create more serious health consequences, both physical and mental. Alongside health, relationships with loved ones may become strained or broken, but that doesn’t have to be the end of the story.

Things might seem hopeless in the midst of everything. The consequences of substance use can be especially difficult for the individual struggling to get themselves on the path to recovery.

Why can’t I just stop? I must be too weak to quit. My moral code just isn’t strong enough. I don’t want it badly enough. I’m too far gone.

These and other similar thoughts are very common, but we must all remember that addiction is a complex issue with many layers and perspectives. There are a variety of factors that can play into addiction. For example, family history of substance use, co-occurring mental health illnesses, previous trauma, and negative behavior patterns and ways of thinking can all contribute to an individual’s experience with addiction.

You may have days where you feel helpless or powerless. Somewhere along the road, substance use became a priority over things like your family or your hobbies. Luckily, there are many opportunities to get help and take positive steps in your life so that you can experience a fresh start of long-lasting recovery.

Substance use addiction treatment programs are highly effective at helping you face and confront the physical, mental, and emotional issues that may be precursor factors to your substance use. A quality addiction treatment program that is dedicated to its patients’ holistic and long-lasting recovery can be found right here at Denver Recovery Center.

Discover healing of the mind, body, and spirit that will support lifelong goals of recovery. You may have authored a tumultuous story up to this point, but it’s time for a new, improved story. Start a new page in your life after addiction.

What Are Addiction Treatment Programs?

When you first begin to consider rehab for yourself or your loved one, you may wonder what addiction treatment is, how it works, and how it can actually help. You may be nervous about the process. After all, true change takes a lot of time and effort.

Drug addiction treatment is more than sitting you down in individual or group therapy sessions and lecturing you about how bad substance use is. Instead, quality addiction treatment programs should be viewed as an opportunity to work with and learn from experienced professionals and other people who are dealing with or can relate to your situation.

There is no single approach to drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Getting help often involves an individualized program that utilizes a variety of therapies and several different levels of care ranging from detox to outpatient programs. When you enter a substance use treatment program, you will typically undergo a thorough assessment process that helps a team of professionals get to know your strengths, goals, and personal struggles.

At first, it may seem a little uncomfortable opening up to strangers about your issues. This is normal. Many people entering addiction treatment centers are anxious or guarded. In time, however, realizing that you finally have the chance to talk about struggles you’ve been holding in for years can lift a lot of emotional weight off your shoulders and finally give you the confidence to start the process of real change.

The information you share with our professional team helps us create an individualized treatment plan that will pave your path to recovery. With the help of our dedicated team, you can begin to work on goals and objectives that aid in self-discovery, provide new ways to deal with life’s challenges, and allow you to develop the skills and motivation you will need to remain sober.

We approach addiction treatment through a combination of evidence-based treatments and care that also recognizes your individuality and unique personal history. Here at Denver Recovery Center, your addiction treatment will meet you where you are at this point in your life. Our team finds therapies that resonate with your interests, goals, and needs. Some approaches work better than others for individuals, so the team will constantly monitor your progress and suggest modifications to keep you engaged during treatment.

Here at Denver Recovery Center, we are pleased to offer a variety of treatment programs to suit the needs of all our patients, unique individuals who deserve the opportunity to experience comprehensive addiction care that fits them well, so they may feel supported in making real, impactful recovery progress.

Safe and Comfortable Detoxification Facility

The first step towards experiencing your life-long recovery begins with detoxification. Detox is usually the first level of care that clients will receive at our welcoming facility. Before engaging with residential treatment, detox helps remove substances in a client’s system.

Undergoing detox at a professional treatment center is the safest option for someone struggling with substance use. Withdrawal symptoms, unpleasant effects that often occur when a usual habit of taking drugs is stopped, can be dangerous and highly uncomfortable. Some serious side effects of withdrawal symptoms include experiencing hallucinations or having a seizure.

With our professional and compassionate detox care, our team is able to provide medical supervision of each client and carefully monitor vitals and health conditions while offering around-the-clock support.

Going through withdrawal often drives many people away from their goals of long-term recovery when they experience the overall unpleasantness. With medically supervised detox, you can find encouragement and remain confident that your health will be closely supervised and attended to by experienced professionals.

Men’s and Women’s Rehab Programs

Here at Denver Recovery Center, we are pleased to offer residential treatment options for both men and women. We are committed to providing the best treatment possible to our clients and recognize that some therapies are better suited for some clients. For example, we often see women benefiting more from group therapy sessions and holistic therapies.

Then, what’s so wrong with co-ed treatment? Co-ed treatment certainly has its benefits, but it also has many challenges. By applying the same treatment methods to a large swath of clients, care is less individualized and not as optimized.

The Troubles of Co-ed Addiction Treatment

Co-ed drug addiction treatment programs that treat both men and women simultaneously are available in many programs. Unfortunately, sometimes they can be counterproductive. Here are some of the cons of co-ed facilities:

  • Distracting from the main purpose of treatment. You are entering treatment to help you get your life back on track. In co-ed facilities, people can become focused on developing romantic and sexual relationships with participants in the program. In addition, some people who are struggling through addiction lack the boundaries and social skills necessary to focus on treatment while handling distractions from the opposite sex.
  • Sharing in groups may be harder. Some people have difficulty opening up in groups when those from the other sex are present. For example, a woman who was abused may find engaging with a group where there are men present a challenging and intimidating experience. In addition, men may be more hesitant to open up in a mixed-gender group for fear of being perceived as weak, too emotional, and not manly enough.
  • Personal issues may not be adequately addressed. Men and women often use drugs for different reasons. They often have problems that may be better addressed, at least at first, in a gender-specific setting. For example, a man may want to work on how he relates to other men before he starts interacting with other women. A woman may wish to practice asserting her personal boundaries before sharing thoughts and emotions with men.

Men’s and women’s gender-specific treatments are available and may actually be more effective. As a general rule, one shouldn’t start a new relationship until they get a solid footing in their recovery. Some professionals even recommend that individuals in recovery wait up to two years before starting a new relationship.

So, why are these guidelines in place? Doesn’t everyone deserve to find love? Of course! However, getting into a new relationship too quickly can result in resorting to old thought and behavior patterns when relationships get tense. Also, you are getting treatment for yourself and are focusing on turning your unique, individual life around. All too often, relationships that begin in addiction treatment place a great deal of focus on saving or changing the other person while neglecting personal needs and progress.

Residential drug treatment is tough enough without romantic distractions. It’s often best to find a gender-specific program, like ours at Denver Recovery Center, so you can work on your own social and interpersonal skills which can allow your next relationship to flourish.

Residential Treatment

Our comprehensive and holistic residential program allows you to engage with life-changing addiction treatment in an environment that is supportive of your recovery journey.

Residential treatment is particularly noted for its ability to remove a client from their home environment. Oftentimes, people and places from a client’s home environment are not conducive to their recovery goals and can even encourage a continuation of negative thoughts or behavioral patterns that are related to continued substance use. Residential treatment offers clients an opportunity to remove themselves from temptations of drugs and alcohol in a calm environment with peers who have similar goals.

Our talented staff team will help you develop an individualized treatment plan that pays specific attention to your personal background, concerns, and history of substance use. You can expect to have an entire experienced team behind you as you seek a comfortable and safe journey in addiction treatment.

Access to a nutritionist to promote healthy living both in and out of treatment, and therapists for individual, group, and family counseling are also included in our clients’ residential experience.

While we utilize some traditional addiction treatment methods, we also actively promote a holistic healing approach. Holistic healing offers a fresh perspective to addiction treatment by taking into account an individual’s need for healing in all areas including mind, body, and spirit. We strive to bring enjoyment and recreation into treatment as well. Some of these holistic activities include

  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Hiking
  • Nutritional education
  • 12 steps
  • Life skills training

These programs go beyond merely treating an addiction. They assist our clients in developing sustainable life skills and reframe their mindset to see the possibilities of a substance-free lifestyle.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Following residential treatment, many clients continue on to the next level of care: partial hospitalization program (PHP).

PHP is a level of care that introduces some more flexibility in treatment. Instead of staying at our facility, clients will come to the facility for treatment and return home after the day’s session concludes. This level of care is especially helpful to individuals who have personal or professional responsibilities. By being able to commute between home and the treatment facility, clients can continue to get the assistance they need while remaining present in their personal lives.

During PHP drug rehab, our clients can expect to spend a lot of time at our treatment facility each day. It’s typical for clients to engage in up to eight hours of structured activities and therapy sessions during this time. In many cases, clients in PHP treatment attend sessions five to seven days a week. After the day’s treatment is finished, they return home to care for their family, pursue academic interests, or work.

Although the flexibility of PHP care can seem very appealing, we want to note that this level of care is not ideal for everyone. Those who are not medically stable or who have a track record of struggling to maintain recovery in their home environment may benefit from a more intensive level of care. For example, PHP is not the best option for success if you are returning home every day to an unsupportive and stressful household where friends or family members are using drugs or alcohol. You might find that everything you have been working on in treatment can quickly collapse.

The PHP level of care is designed for those who have an established support network at home. This can include dedicated family members, sober friends, and access to support programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). In addition, PHP treatment requires you to have some stability and control over your addictive impulses. After you have shown responsibility managing your addiction — usually after completing inpatient care — the treatment team may determine that partial hospitalization treatment is right for you

Outpatient Program

The most flexible level of care we offer is outpatient care. The outpatient program is the most flexible treatment program and is best suited for clients who are pressed for time, since outpatient programming generally takes up less time than a program like inpatient treatment.

Outpatient programs are great for clients who may not have as severe of an addiction but are looking for an extra boost of support and professional treatment to help get their life back on track with healthy habits. It is also a suitable program for individuals who have gone through the previous, more intense levels of care and are prepared for a more flexible option.

Clients who opt for the outpatient program don’t necessarily need to be removed from a home environment to experience progress in their addiction treatment program. Outpatient is a great opportunity to maintain an independent life outside of our treatment facility while still being able to receive quality care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the three types of residential and day treatment programs?

Here at Denver Recovery Center, we offer residential and day treatment programs. Day treatment programs are also referred to as partial hospitalization programs (PHP). Our residential program is the most intensive level of treatment that we offer with clients staying at our facility for the duration of treatment. Our PHP program is one step down in intensity from residential treatment.

What are residential treatment programs?

Residential treatment programs are the most intense level of addiction treatment care. During this stage of treatment, clients will stay at the facility for the duration of the treatment program. Clients participate in a variety of therapies including individual and group therapy sessions.

Some treatment programs may also offer a variety of classes on anger management, communication, and other life skills.

What is another name for a residential treatment program for substance use?

Residential treatment programs for substance use are also referred to as rehab, a shortened form of “rehabilitation.” This level of care involves live-in care where clients stay at a facility to undergo substance use treatment.
